PING TOUR NEWS: JUNE 30, 2020

JONES SHINES

Kyle Jones birdied the second playoff hole at the Utah Championship and earned his  first Korn Ferry Tour victory.

“I’m pretty speechless right now,” said the 26-year-old, who played collegiately at Baylor University. “It gives me a lot of confidence. I knew I was good enough to win out here. I just hadn’t cracked through, so it feels really good.”

Three players began sudden death, including PING Pro Daniel Summerhays, who posted
a 62 on Sunday. It was to be Summerhays’ final event as a pro, but his T2 finish qualifies him for this week’s Korn Ferry event, and he’ll tee it up.

HUGHES SIZZLES WITH 60

Canadian Mackenzie Hughes opened with a blistering 10-under 60 at the Travelers Championship, and he finished in spectacular fashion to earn a T3, his second top three of the season after a solo second at the Honda Classic in March.

In the final round on Sunday, Hughes made a late run up the leaderboard with a birdie on 15, followed by a 47-foot birdie putt on 17, and a 43-footer on the 18th. He finished two strokes back at -17 on rounds of 60-68-68-67.

DRIVER WINS GROW

PING was the most-played driver brand at the Utah Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour where 41 drivers were in play, including by the winner - Kyle Jones faming a G410 Plus.

Jones' victory added to the growing worldwide win total for PING drivers. His was the 53rd win with G410 models on global tours. Over the past 18 months, PING dirvers have contricbuted to 80 tournament wins, including nine this season on the PGA Tour alone, tied for first among brands.

Cameron Champ leads the PGA Tour in average driving distance at 320.8 yards playing a G410 LST. He's one of three PING pros in the top 10 in driving distance, with Bubba Watson (G410 Plus), and Brandon Hagy (G410 LST).
